Switch Bikes

Company

Switch Bikes began from an intuition of BR bike research, a project and construction company engaged in the Bicycle and Motorbike sector, whose desire was to move towards innovation and technology in the bicycle market. Technical choices like the integrated bottom bracket (already developed for products like Red code and Dart), carbon dropouts integrated in the rear stays, integrated seat post (commonly used today) and other ideas that were not standardized had to be kept aside due to initial skepticism. At that point it was the time to develop a new brand that could express itself freely without market conditioning.

Today we can see famous companies who took the same direction we have taken may years ago with technical decisions like the fork with taperered stem (developed by us for the Ridley Damocles which was put together by us), bottom brackets with bearings mounted directly in the frame (removing all threaded parts), chain stays with incorporated carbon dropouts and others which ave become of common use.

A philosophy that has guided us and drives us in producing our products which are trend setting bikes. New projects are under the responsibility of Giancarlo Biondi, who is involved in constantly researching new construction technologies and technical improvements. After his work, product production is passed on to leading companies who supply and produce the best materials and finished products and who are constantly quality monitored. In 2007 an agreement was taken up with Action Frame, a Maltese company who not only produces but also paints the frames. This company has produced carbon frames for over 8 years now, and has produced many of the best frames in worldwide competitions:(Ridley, MBK, Stoecklim, ControlTech).

A highly competent and motivated work group is rounded off by the introduction of Patxi Vila, who has assumed a very important role, that of bike testing and fine tuning by running actual tests on the road.

EBC Brakes

Our R and D team have been at work over the winter bringing us our annual upgrade to formulations. This year in response to top racers asking for more bite on bikes equipped with slick tyres and latest calipers we have launched the GPFA series. These pads will run alongside the EPFA range for one simple reason. The GPFA pads are TOO GRIPPY for street use and are race only brake pads.

BEST BRAKE PADS FOR TRACKDAY USE – Probably the EPFA series as most riders actually use their bike to get to the track and home. EPFA are safe for street use but have superb fade resistance and modulation making them good-to-excellent on the track.

BEST BRAKE PADS FOR EXCLUSIVE RACE USE – Where available use the GPFA and if not available use EPFA. Please note the GPFA pads are simply too grippy for highway use.

Garry Gallagher our race tech engineer was at Daytona 2011 with 200 sets of the new GPFA pads and was running these on every bike we could….the result…..100% good news. The new GPFA compound impressed all levels of riders including eventual race winners and the OK was given to our Ohio factory to go ahead producing quantities of the new GPFA pads for our global locations.
